Natural Gas For Tractors?
There has been a few tractors’ or semis’as you might say that have come out with the ability to run on Natural Gas. Sounds great right?! Not really when you get looking at the numbers, cost, pollution etc..
The pros of using the already abundant resource to fuel these behemoths down the road and haul our goods across the country are certainly good and worth it for any company in the trucking business so long as you have a fueling station at each stop.
It’s easy to see why it’s a better alternative then diesel but what about bio-diesel? Once the fuel-crisis is over and America makes the switch to EV/Plug-in vehicles the market for petroleum products will almost completely collapse…….compared to the alltime high in demand it is use to. The bio-diesel be will much cheaper and what good would the switch to all those expensive natural gas trucks do you then?
I say let’s stay the course to a true “Alternative Fuel” not some resource that we can run out of again or be in short supply, we need electric or hydrogen powered vehicles these are the only Alternatives that are Truly renewable.

Lithium-Ion The Battery Of Choice For Hybrid Cars
It looks as though the Lithium-Ion Battery will replace the NiMH Batteries currently being used in electric hybrids today. The cycle life of the lithium-ion battery has slowly been increasing and will be able to meet the demands of everday use in tomorrows’ hybrid vehicles.
Toyota has anounced plans to introduce a lithium-ion hybrid by 2010 and chevy’s VOLT is also slated for release in 2010 with lithium technology as well.
This is GOOD news considering the evironmental hazard that NiMH Batteries proposed with the coming mass exodus from gas to hybrid’s over the next decade.
Though NiMH Batteries percentage of lead has been reduced it would have still been a great challenge to recycle all those batteries properly considering that in the next decade nearly every household will have atleast one hybrid vehicle.
It’s nice to see technology coming around to not only help us but also greatly reduce global warming, this is the news people want to hear and those who did not care not that long ago now care alot more with gas at $4.00 a gallon.
